We seek a Scientist to lead our Structural Biology group which crystallizes, solves structures of and models proteins and antibodies for the engineering of protein and antibody therapeutics.

Responsibilities:

  • Produce protein fractions for crystallization, and characterize interactions by SPR
  • Utilize high throughput screening for the identification and optimization of crystallization conditions and collect diffraction data
  • Solve crystal structures and use modeling software to guide the engineering of therapeutics
  • Work with external x-ray sources, CROs, collaborators and partners to transfer molecules, structural data and protocols, into, or out of, Akriveia, as appropriate
  • Identify and integrate technologies that improve or expand the ability to crystalize and model proteins by working with teammates, collaborators, vendors, and staying abreast of the literature
  • Enter all data into laboratory notebooks and databases on a daily basis and generate weekly summary reports for management
  • Regular participation and presentation of data and analyses at Project Team and department meetings

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in a relevant scientific discipline, and post-doctoral or equivalent experience in the field of protein crystallography and/or modeling
  • Technical experience with all aspects of crystalizing proteins, including protein expression, purification, and characterization (e.g. SEC, PAGE, SPR), high throughput crystallization and solving structures, protein modeling, including complex computations and simulations at the molecular level
  • Deep experience with x-ray crystallography software and molecular modeling packages
  • A track record of innovation and scientific rigor, strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills, and ability to contribute constructively to discussions
