We seek a Senior Director/Vice President to lead our Protein Biochemistry team who will be responsible for crystallography and modeling, protease discovery, display libraries, molecule engineering, mammalian production, purification, and analytical characterization of protein therapeutics.

Responsibilities:

  • Establish Akriveia Protein Biochemistry laboratories in the Cambridge, MA area, including development of platforms for crystallography and structural modeling, molecular biology, display libraries, mammalian expression, protein purification, and analytical characterization
  • Establish quality control guidelines, ensure molecules are produced and data are rigorously analyzed to meet project timelines
  • Provide training of staff and continue to explore opportunities to expand their responsibilities and capabilities
  • Maintain a culture of innovation and continual improvement
  • Ensure labs are maintained, safe and clean
  • Help to create and manage department budget
  • Oversee collaboration and outsourced work
  • Hold regular group meetings to review data and present at management meetings
  • Prepare and review regulatory filing and intellectual property documents

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D., post-doctoral experience, and +10 years in the field of protein biochemistry, preferably with extensive experience working in a biotechnology or pharmaceutical company
  • Management role for the discovery and development of protein therapeutics, with technical experience including small scale to gram level expression and purification of proteins, as well as technical experience in several of the following fields: protein crystallography and structure, molecular modeling, display libraries, protein engineering and molecular biology, bioanalytical characterization
  • Experience with intellectual property or regulatory filings is desirable
  • A track record of innovation and scientific rigor, strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills, and ability to contribute constructively to discussions
  • Goal oriented, organized, capable of prioritizing across multiple projects, and able to execute to timelines that meet company goals
  • Thrive in a cross functional team environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
